ORIGIN™ Denim Fit & Style GuideUpdated 24 days ago

What are the differences between Delta Flex, Maverick (formerly Work) Denim, and Heritage Cotton?

We now offer three denim collections — each tailored to different use cases, fabric philosophies, and performance needs:

Delta Flex Denim

  • Lightweight ~ 8.5 oz stretch textile (for flexibility and comfort)

  • Designed with ~20% more stretch compared to rigid denim

  • “Feels like a base layer, performs like an outer layer” — flexible enough for mobility, structured enough to wear as jeans

  • Available in four fits: Straight, Taper, Relaxed, and Slim

  • Available washes: Dark Blue, Medium (“2-Year” wash), Light (“10-Year” wash), and Black

  • Best for everyday wear, active lifestyles, commuting, or anytime comfort and stretch are priorities

Maverick Denim (formerly “Origin Work Denim”)

  • Heavier, durable ~ 11.5 oz textile — built for work and tough conditions

  • Designed to endure hard use and long days on the job

  • Available fits: Straight, Bootcut, and Relaxed

  • Offers a Double-Knee version with reinforced overlays on thighs, knees, and leg openings for extra resilience

  • Ideal for tradespeople, labor-intensive work, or anyone who stresses their denim

*(Note: what used to be ‘Origin Work Denim’ is now branded as Maverick Denim on Origin’s site) ORIGIN

Heritage Cotton Jean (100% Cotton)

  • Made from 100% American-grown cotton, sourced from Texas and Tennessee — no stretch, no blends, minimal processing — woven “the old way” ORIGIN

  • Pure, classic denim feel and behavior — more rigid initially and will mellow/fade over time

  • Named “heritage” to reflect return to roots of rugged, traditional denim ORIGIN

  • Features:
      • Pre-shrunk for better out-of-box fit
      • 3×-felled inseam construction for durability
      • Six belt loops (2" belt) for stability
      • Shark-fin back pockets, reverse yokes and contouring for comfort and shape ORIGIN

  • Great for denim purists, those who love natural fading and vintage behavior, or folks who want classic, non-stretch jeans

  • The fit of the Heritage jeans is between the straight and relaxed fit. The outseam is straight from the hip to the ankle, while the inseam is more relaxed

What’s the difference between the fits?

Straight Fit

  • Consistent width from knee down to ankle

  • A classic, reliable all-purpose cut

Taper Fit

  • Same through waist to knee, then narrows (~1.5" flat, ~3" around) below the knee

  • A more modern silhouette without being skinny

Relaxed Fit

  • Extra room through waist, seat, hips, and thighs

  • Good for athletic builds or those wanting more ease and movement

Slim Fit (Delta Flex only)

  • More tailored silhouette through the leg

  • Sleek and modern, with stretch allowing comfort

Bootcut Fit (Maverick only)

  • Fitted through thigh, slight flare below the knee

  • Good for pairing with boots

What washes/colors are offered?

  • Blue Denim Options
      • Dark Wash — deep, rich indigo
      • Medium Wash — simulates ~2 years of wear
      • Light Wash — simulates ~10 years of wear

  • Black Denim
      • Offered in Delta Flex styles

  • Heritage Jean
      • Currently sold in a Dark Wash version (no stretch) on Origin’s site ORIGIN

Do your jeans fade over time?

Absolutely. All denim will fade with use and washing.

  • The Medium and Light washes are intentionally designed to mimic the natural aging progression, giving the look of worn-in denim from day one.

  • The Heritage (100% cotton) option will undergo more dramatic fading and “character development” over time, since there is no stretch fiber to resist changes.

What is the Double-Knee (reinforced) jean?

This option is available in the Maverick line: it adds extra reinforcement overlays at the thighs, knees, and leg openings. It’s built for heavy-duty use — crawling, kneeling, abrasion, and other stress points where ordinary denim might wear out faster.
